Insomnia Cookies: Why Insomnia is the Best for a Late-Night Treat

Have a hankering for a late-night treat? You must try Insomnia Cookies in Downtown Fargo, ND.

Insomnia Cookies, Fargo, ND

We arrived in Downtown Fargo late on a Friday night. Exhausted after a long day of work followed by the three-and-a-half-hour drive, we really didn’t feel up to doing too much. BUT, we also didn’t want to waste a second of our precious time away.

Our hotel, the Jasper Hotel, had a lovely bar area and thankfully had two empty stools just for us. After a couple of drinks, however, we both started to get the munchies… The hotel’s kitchen had already closed so we were out of luck there.

Just as we were discussing if we should just buy a bag of chips from a vending machine, a Doordash driver came into the hotel to deliver someone food. Curious about what was still open, I pulled out my phone and opened the app.

One of the first places that popped up, was Insomnia Cookies. I immediately got a childlike excitement inside. A quick Google search and I found it was about a block away. PERFECT!!

How could we not check this place out?? We finished our cocktails and walked to Insomnia Cookies.

Why is Insomnia Cookies Special?

First, Insomnia Cookies is a bakery that is open late at night. Weird right!?!? Most bakeries are open early in the morning and are closed by mid-afternoon. Insomnia is the opposite, they open at 11:00 am and close at 1:00 am. And even better, they make late-night deliveries too!!

Second, their cookies are like a warm hug. Ok so maybe it was the time of the night, or that it somehow felt naughty to be buying (and eating) cookies at midnight, but it just made me feel warm inside. We bought a six-pack and headed back to the hotel room to unwind.

Where is it located?

Insomnia Cookies is located at 412 Broadway N, downtown Fargo, ND. The perfect centrally located spot is ideal with multiple colleges and universities around the area.

Not only is it a great location in relation to the college areas, but downtown Fargo is packed on Friday and Saturday nights with all the bars and restaurants around. You can walk from any of the downtown bars, restaurants, and hotels to pick up some cookies.

And remember, they deliver!! This is one of the smartest decisions this company made, offering late-night deliveries. When you build a business around late-night cookies, you know there will be a lot of people who have had too much to drink to drive. SOOOO they will bring the cookies to you. Genius!!

If you are not in the Fargo, Moorhead area, no worries, Insomnia Cookies has hundreds of locations across the US.

What kind of cookies do they sell?

Insomnia Cookies has two different categories of cookies, Classic and Deluxe. The Classic cookies are traditional favorites like chocolate chunk, chocolate mint, oatmeal, snickerdoodle, and peanut butter…thirteen flavors in total.

The deluxe options are oatmeal chocolate walnut, salted caramel, s’mores, and triple chocolate.

They also sell decorated cookie cakes! AND, they have ice cream so you can turn your cookies into an ice cream cookie sandwich!!! YUMMY!!!

Do they have other things than cookies?

Yes!! As I mentioned before, they sell ice cream. And not just vanilla and chocolate soft serve. They have hard ice cream. It was so tempting to try some but it was getting late and I was not very hungry. I just needed a snack so a cookie was all I needed.

The ice cream can be made into an ice cream cookie sandwich, or they have cones and cups available too. Add mini cookies or full-sized cookies to any ice cream order.

They also have brownies and blondies. And you can add a side of buttercream or cream cheese icing as a side.

No cookie shop would be complete without milk, right? Good news, they have milk! Regular milk, chocolate, strawberry, and even oat milk! Both chocolate and regular.

Does Insomnia Cookies have gluten-free cookies?

I have a friend who can’t eat gluten so I tend to lock into finding gluten-free options when I visit places. I was happy to see, that Insomnia Cookies does have a gluten-free chocolate chip cookie. Not only is it gluten-free, but it’s also vegan.

There are three other vegan cookie options as well. They do however warn, that their cookies are all manufactured in the same facility. While they do their best to avoid cross-contamination, it’s still possible. If you have high sensitivity to gluten and or dairy please be cautious.

Why you need to check out Insomnia Cookies.

Having gone to college to get a degree in business, I can tell you Insomnia Cookies is an excellent business model! Open a late-night cookie delivery and storefront, put it in a college town near bars and restaurants, and make delicious cookies. Oh and serve them warm.

The business model is not however the reason you should go, you should go because the cookies are fire. It really makes for a great late-night snack after hanging out with friends all night. The idea of getting warm cookies at midnight gives you a cozy but somewhat naughty feel.

It’s ok, life is short, be naughty once in a while. It’s good for your soul.
