One of my best friends of forever years recently moved back to Minnesota from Vancouver, WA. I could not wait to have her close to home again! Since she moved to the Southwest metro, I started researching fun, new places to meet for dinner and drinks.

McCoys was one of the first places I started to research. For dietary reasons, I needed to find a place that offered plenty of Gluten Free options. I was excited to see not only did they have a lot of yummy-looking salads but they also offer gluten-free buns and cauliflower crust options for their pizzas.

She was sold and so was I. McCoys Copper Pint sounded perfect so we decided that was where we would meet.

Where is McCoys Copper Pint?

McCoys Copper Pint is located at 1710 Crossings Blvd, Shakopee, MN. We were not sure how to get there so we did what most people do, put the address into our phone. This was not a good idea. We ended up on some side roads, driving through some back alleys, and got stopped by a train.

And not just any train, but a train at a train yard. If you have never been stuck near a train yard, here is how the whole thing went down…

The train moved slowly forward. Like turtle’s pace slow for about 4 minutes, then stopped for about 2 minutes, then backed up for about 3 minutes, then stopped for about 4 minutes, then moved forward for about 4 minutes, then stopped for about 2 minutes, then backed up…

This repeated for what seemed like hours. In reality, it was about 25 minutes.

So my advice, take HWY 169 into Shakopee, then south on County Road 21.

What is the atmosphere like at McCoys?

I describe the atmosphere at McCoys Copper Pint as industrial rustic. The floors are stained concrete and the vaulted ceilings are open to expose the pipes. The bar and booth walls are made from weathered wood and vintage copper panels cover the ceiling over the bar and the bathrooms.

The booths are fairly private with high walls dividing the tables and there are a couple of smaller rooms that can be reserved for events but are also used for general seating when not reserved.

The bar has numerous TVs airing various sporting events.

McCoys Copper Pint was casual but also felt classy enough that you would not feel out of place in business casual dress.

What is the food like?

The food at McCoys Copper Pint was AMAZING! Everyone in with me loved what they ordered.

I had the Sweet Heat Chicken Sandwich which was a grilled chicken breast with Havarti cheese, bacon, green apple slices, and a sweet heat sauce on a pretzel bun. The sweet heat sauce had a nice I’d say medium heat flavor that reminded me of a Thai sweet chili sauce.

The coolness of the green apples offset the heat of the sauce and the chicken was grilled perfectly. Applewood smoked bacon added a nice salty crunch. It was fantastic! It came with medium-cut French fries which are crispy on the outside and soft in the middle. I’d highly recommend the Sweet Heat Chicken Sandwich!

Does McCoys Copper Pint offer drinks?

McCoys Copper Pint has a full bar, 30+ tap beers, and ciders, bottled beer, specialty cocktails, and wine. Something I really liked about the beer menu is they offered not only Minnesota breweries but also local ones to the Shakopee area brewery beers.

I love a good local craft beer so I had to order an IPA from Shakopee Brewhall. I have never been to their brewery but the beer I had at McCoys was delicious and it’s now on my list of breweries to hit up in the future.

My friends tried some of the specialty cocktails and all said they were really tasty. They had the Spicy Bloody Mary, Rosemary Lemon Drop Martini, and Long Island Raspberry Tea. Next time I’d like to try the Rosemary Lemon Drop Martini. It looked really good.
