I know you can buy candy from many different places, gas stations, grocery stores, Target, Amazon… But what fun is that when you can spend a couple of hours wandering around Minnesota’s Largest Candy Store? I googled it and apparently, this is not actually the largest candy store in the US but it is the largest in Minnesota.

Just because it’s not actually the world’s largest candy store, that does not mean it’s small. It’s not small…it’s huge and full of forgotten favorites and new flavor trends.

Even if you don’t like candy, there is something for everyone. You can combine a stop at Minnesota’s Largest Candy Store with an afternoon at Ferguson’s Minnesota Harvest Apple Orchard

Where is Minnesota’s Largest Candy Store located?

Let’s start with the basics, Minnesota’s Largest Candy Store is located just 40 minutes southwest of Minneapolis in Jordan, MN. Take Highway 169 south out of the Twin Cities Metro area. Continue past the town of Jordan for about 3.5 miles.

When you see the big yellow building, you are there!

How big is it?

Minnesota’s Largest Candy Store in Jordan is over 27,000 square feet. Filled with pretty much any candy you can think of. Jelly Beans…got em. Salt Water Taffy…got em. Snickers…got em. Pica Pepino Spicy Cucumber Lollipops…got em!!

Wait, what are Pica Pepino Spicy Cucumber Lollipops? Honestly, I don’t know but Minnesota’s Largest Candy Store has them!!

They have candy from your childhood, no matter how old you are. And they have candy you likely have never heard of before. Many of the options are from other countries so if you found something on a trip and want to buy more, they probably have them!

What to Expect at Minnesota’s Largest Candy Store?

I’ve only been to Minnesota’s Largest Candy Store on a weekend and it’s always packed with people. Maybe it’s better on a week day but expect there to be a ton of people, especially on a weekend in the summer and fall.

Even if you don’t like sweets, the interior of the store is filled with murals of everything from Disney favorites to Marvel and DC comic characters. Statues of the Incredible Hulk and Transformers make for great selfies. They even have a giant Pez dispenser and a retro animatronic candy band that plays music every five minutes.

Other than candy, what else do they sell?

Despite the name Minnesota’s Largest Candy Store, they do sell a lot of other things than candy.

First, they are also an apple orchard. Because they have access to a lot of apples, they have an onsite bakery that makes delicious apple pies and other apple-baked goods. You can also buy a bag of their apples.

They also offer a selection of other produce for sale like pumpkins and gourds in the fall. Of course, any produce is seasonal so don’t go in the spring and expect to buy pumpkins.

Nothing goes better with candy than chips. It can’t just be me who likes to mix sweets with salty snacks. Minnesota’s Largest Candy Store has a huge selection of chips. And not just the same chips you can buy at the grocery store. They have flavors and brands I’ve never heard of. If you want to try something new, check out their chip selection.

They also have a wide selection of pre-popped and un-popped popcorn kernels in a variety of flavors. There is also a section of pasta, salsas, local meats and cheeses, pickles, olives, and bacon-flavored everything.

I can’t write this post without also mentioning the pop (soda for everyone not in Minnesota). If there is a flavor you like, they have it. I had no idea there were that many options for root beer. And even unique flavors like pickle. Yes, pickle. I’m not yet adventurous enough to try that one…yet…

What you need to know before going to Minnesota’s Largest Candy Store

Minnesota’s Largest Candy Store is not a place you quickly run in, grab a few things and leave. You will spend at least an hour. Two hours is probably more realistic.  So make sure you give yourself enough time to explore.

They don’t accept credit or debit cards. I know!! In this day and age, it’s hard to believe there are still businesses that don’t take plastic. But this is one, make sure you have cash with you. They also still accept checks but most of us don’t carry or even have checks anymore. There is an ATM on site but unless it’s part of your bank’s network, you will have to pay fees.

Speaking of money, you will spend money and potentially a lot of money. Not because things are expensive but because you will end up buying more than you ever thought you would. I mean, how can you pass up the curiosity of what a blueberry muffin Kit Kat tastes like?
