Omni Brewery & Taproom: Brewery in Maple Grove, MN

Looking for good craft beer in Maple Grove? Check out Omni Brewery & Taproom.

Omni Brewery & Taproom beer

I make it no secret that I love to try new breweries, wineries, distilleries, and cideries!!! While I love a good beer, wine, or cocktail, going to a new craft or anything place is just as much about the atmosphere and supporting local small businesses.

Some places I really enjoy are big enough that they don’t count as small businesses but they are still local businesses and I love supporting local businesses.

Omni Brewery & Taproom checks all my boxes.

  • Good beer
  • Support local
  • Relaxed atmosphere

Where is Omni Brewery & Taproom?

Omni Brewery & Taproom is in Maple Grove, MN. It’s located in a more industrial park-like area so you may think you are in the wrong spot but you are not. I promise you, there is a brewery in the industrial park. Actually, now that I think about it, many breweries I visit are in industrial areas…is it a coincidence?

I may need to investigate that someday. Back to Omni Brewery.

What kind of beer do they brew?

Omni Brewery offers several different flavors and types of beer. When we were there they have 16 different beer options on tap. About half are IPAs which I LOVE! But they also have a couple of sours, Lagers, ales, a stout, a cream ale, and of course a shandy, it is after summer in the Midwest and shandy is the best summer beer on a hot day.

You may be thinking, but wait… there are more than 16 taps in that picture. Don’t worry, I’ll get to that.

We tried Shanty Town (nut brown ale), Irish Ale (Irish red ale), Lions Don’t Like Water (New England IPA), and Omni Lager (American Lager). All were delicious. I really liked the Lion’s Don’t Like Water but I’m a hoppy IPA kind of woman. But I also love a good nut brown ale too. The smooth nutty flavor gives me a warm fuzzy feeling inside. It reminds me of a warm hug.

They sell crowlers and cans to go. We grabbed a six-pack of Omni Lager since it was lighter than the other beers we tried and we were not sure how much more we could drink.

Are there other things to drink than beer?

Yes, there is actually!! Remember those other taps I didn’t count in my beer tap count? Those are actually hard seltzer taps. Omni Brewery also brews some hard seltzers. I didn’t try them but plan to next time we go.

They also have a winery in Rosemount. I have not checked it out yet but they are planning on offering some of their wines at the Omni Brewery & Taproom soon.

While it is still beer, they also have a craft brew non-alcoholic IPA beer as well.

Do they offer food at Omni Brewery?

Like most breweries around Minnesota, Omni Brewery doesn’t have food but they do have a food truck, Bear Paw Pizza. It’s a “permanent” food truck. Wondering what a permanent food truck is? I call it permanent because it’s always at Omni. It is still a food truck on wheels but every day, Bear Paw Pizza is there serving brick oven pizzas. They even have a menu inside and you can order from the bartenders.

We were planning on going to Brick & Bourbon for dinner that night so we didn’t eat but had I known how good the pizza looked I would have suggested we just eat there. Brick & Bourbon was amazing too, check out my blog post for more information.

What is the atmosphere like?

Omni Brewery has an outdoor patio with a TON of seating. Mostly picnic tables and benches. Inside the building is full of long tables with benches, similar to a German beer hall. Close to the bar are long raw edge board high-top tables with stools. Exposed ductwork and pipes give it an industrial feel.

In the back are the giant beer holding tanks where the beer ages and gets the carbonation.

Omni Brewery has a side room, called the barrel room, used for private parties and events. There was a birthday party in there the night we went so I didn’t get to see the room but it does have a private entrance which is nice for guests to know where to go.

They offer several board games for those who want to turn happy hour into an evening out. They also have a tv by the bar that airs sporting events.

Should you go to Omni Brewery?

I loved Omni Brewery and I think you will too. It’s a relaxing place to have a craft beer or hard seltzer and unwind. While we were there a group of runners came in and had a glass of water and then a beer. There were also people dressed in cocktail dresses for the private party. Everyone seemed to fit in even though they were clearly there for different reasons.

Omni has tasty beer and while I didn’t try the pizza it looked and smelled delicious. I can’t wait to go back and I think you should try it too.
