I hate mornings!!! If I could sleep in every day I would which is probably why I love brunch.
In fact, most weekends we have brunch as weekends are our time to catch up on some sleep. So when we were recently staying at the Jasper Hotel, I was excited to find out they offered weekend brunch. And not just any brunch but a jazz brunch!!!

Where is Rosewild Restaurant located?
Rosewild Restaurant is located at 215 Broadway N. inside the Jasper Hotel, downtown Fargo, ND. The restaurant overlooks Broadway Square, a community space used to host events like the Red River Market in the summer/fall and a skating rink in the winter.
Enter the restaurant through the main hotel door on Broadway. The host station is straight ahead on the other side of the bar.
When do they have Jazz Brunch?
Rosewild restaurant has a brunch every weekend from 10:00-2:00. The jazz brunch is only on Saturdays. The last brunch reservation time on Saturdays is 1:00, this allows guests to have a full hour to experience the jazz music before the musicians end at 2:00.
This does not mean you need to leave at 2:00, you can continue to enjoy the ambiance of the restaurant while you enjoy the rest of your meal.
What kind of food does Rosewild serve for brunch?
Ok, the food…the Rosewild restaurant menu pulls in inspiration from local traditions of the Midwest heritage using local ingredients. Think of an elegant but simple Scandinavian vibe. I know the Scandinavian countries are not known for their culinary options but that really needs to change.
Scandinavian foods are made to let the ingredients shine. They don’t overpower the food with herbs and spices but find a balance to enhance the natural flavors. Rosewild plays on this feel with simple classics like the Jasper Pancakes, the Three Egg Sandwich, and the Rosewild Burger.
We opted for the Bow Tie Breakfast with two eggs, bacon, toast, and hashbrowns. While this sounds like the food you can get at any greasy spoon, this was somehow better. I don’t know what they did but it was one of the best hashbrowns I’ve ever tasted.
We also ordered the Three Egg Sandwich. The balance of the bacon and cheese with the smoked aioli was perfect. I’d highly recommend it!!! It was served with a generous serving of a spring salad mix with a light vinaigrette dressing.
Our server recommended a side of sausage but I found the sandwich and salad would have been a perfect amount of food.
Is the bar open for jazz brunch?
A brunch would not be complete without a cocktail right? Rosewild restaurant does not disappoint in that area either. Brunch after all is a perfect excuse to indulge in a Champagne Mimosa or a Bloody Mary before noon.
While you can order any cocktail that suits your taste, I opted for a Mimosa, and my partner in crime opted for a Screwdriver.
What to expect at Rosewild Restaurant’s Jazz Brunch?
Rosewild restaurant has a simple but sophisticated feel. The décor is not overdone or flashy but it feels like a classy place at the same time. Tables and chairs line the windows that overlook Broadway on one side and the Broadway Square park on the other side. Cushy banquette seating fills the center of the dining room with long tables on the back wall for larger groups.
Most guests were wearing a business casual dress but the definition of business casual has relaxed in recent years. Jeans, a button-up shirt/polo shirt or leggings, and an oversized sweater fit the bill.
There is also outdoor seating along both the street and Broadway Square Park weather permitting.
The music is performed by local jazz musicians. They are set up just outside the host station in the Jasper Hotel bar. This makes it easy to hear the music while dining but is not overpowering so you can’t talk to the others in your party. It also makes for a nice dance space.
I don’t know why but I did not expect to see people get up and dance to the music. There were however several guests who could not resist the urge, they grabbed a partner and danced the morning away.
Why you need to experience jazz brunch at Rosewild Restaurant.
Maybe it comes from watching every episode of Sex and the City or my love of culinary experiences while traveling but the jazz brunch at Rosewild restaurant was a highlight of our weekend in Fargo, ND. The food was fire and the drinks were smooth.
It is a perfect way to enjoy a relaxed morning catching up with some friends or to start the day like I did with a loved one. The Rosewild restaurant not only wants you to slow down and relax but they expect it. We never felt rushed to vacate the table even after we finished our food and drinks. This is rare these days when most places try to turn tables as quickly as possible.
The Saturday jazz brunch at Rosewild restaurant is a must-do if you are traveling to Fargo or live there. Check it out!!!
